La escucha y los vientos
-
This project offers dialogues between different times and memories, made in the north of Salta, in a border territory that is a synecdoche of a larger one: the Gran Chaco Americano. "La escucha y los vientos" brings together collectives of craftswomen, activists and communicators of native peoples with artists and researchers of different origins who also live in this region to reflect on how they name themselves and the political meanings of their artistic and communicational productions. Fragments of these actions and artifacts resulting from them are exhibited: handmade textiles, ceramics, drawings, soundscapes and audiovisuals. Andrea Fernández is the curator of this exhibition within the cycle Enviroment in the framework of the project Untie to Tie of the ifa-Galerie Berlin directed by Inka Gressel. In this process of reflections on different identities that coexist in the same territory, listening is put forward as a necessary, urgent action. To get to know and look for other possibilities of doing and living, to be able to link ourselves with presences that are perhaps incomprehensible but existent, to respect also what lives and is not human. To manifest in small gestures the collective memory and thus create the future. -
Silat Tejido en Chaguar (fibra vegetal) 2 x 3 mts.In 2019 I was invited by Andrei Fernandez to accompany the work process of the textiles that were made by women weavers of the Wichi people of La Puntana Communities in Santa Victoria Este, Salta, Argentina (2020). The starting point was the Pilcomayo River, a river with a strong real and symbolic presence in the communities. The weavings were made with recycled plastic, acrylic wool and chaguar fiber with techniques they use to weave in the present. -
